Holy Panchayat (learnings) by Munshi Premchand

Premchand's style of writing has a charm of its own he just teleports you to the whole new different world and always shows the society their true image in a very subtle way.

Now lets come to the story we are going to talk about in this article. This story hammers the thinking about the women by showing how an old woman fights for herself in "Panchayat", even after going through so much of humiliation and cruelty faced by the society. There is also a beautiful irony in this particular story where the writer portrays how at the beginning both the friends made their friendship based on matching of their opinion. But at the end they both undergo a change in their perception that both might have different opinion under different circumstances and this is shown in a very subtle way, if you delve closely into the story.

Learnings: Things which I noticed is that, with the responsibility your mindset changes and you get a broader perspective of a situation or a person. Like in this case though their personal thoughts were something else about a situation, both the times but due to the responsibility given to to them under both the situations of a "Sarpanch" they feel a sense of responsibility which is greater and broader than their own beliefs on the matter. 

This shows the variability of  human perception in different situations due to different reasons. When a person has been assigned a responsibility, automatically a sense of unbiasedness comes inside a person to be veracious towards their duties. Though these things have changed these days and nobody cares about it but whatever you do at the end its your responsibility to make the your platter look clean and if you manage to do that than good for you but as a human being you will have a guilt or regret at some point of time in your life. You should have the guts to face it and if you have than go for the same because moral is a subjective aspect and depends upon an individual, it becomes a social norm only when everyone believes in it from inside than just artificially painting a picture of it.
